SANDWICHBIKE

I am not a big bicycle person…mostly because I never learned how to ride them. But childhood deprivation aside, I am a huge fan of innovative products and the Sandwichbike is most certainly one of the most creative and original designs I’ve seen in a while.

Designed by Dutch designer Basten Leijah, the Sandwichbike features two coated frames of layered plywood, bonded together in a “sandwich” style instead of the welded frame that is traditionally done on bicycles.

There are two really great perks about this bike, one being its made of would which is always a plus because it makes it quite durable, as well as it has an IKEA feel to its packaging so you can assemble it yourself!

I’M AUDI 5000

Audi Bike 5

After watching the first “Iron Man” movie in the theatre, I wanted to rush over to the Audi dealership and place an order for an Audi R8 ASAP.  I then  remembered I do not have Tony Starks bank roll and have to stay within my means. Well my dreams of owning it have finally come true. It’s not the R8, but Audi has created a performance electric bike for sports and trick cycling. The lithium-ion bike features a carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) frame , 26-inch wheels and an on-bike touchscreen computer that interfaces with smartphone via WLAN.  You are also able to record video via the in-helmet camera and uploaded it to a mobile device and then the web. I already own an eBike, but I would sell mine in a blink and grab this as soon as it comes to market. It gave me that R8 feeling minus the R8 price.

RIDING TO THE TEMPLE, FOR BRUNCH

IMG_4500

I can honestly say I’ve had a top 5 in my life type of morning today.  It started with a ride on my motor bike on loan (THANKS QUINN!!). We left the small city of Nha Trang and rode into the country side.  It’s a beautiful part of Vietnam.  Rice fields, lotus flowers, palm trees with a scenic mountain back drop.  The people are very friendly. The further from the city you go, the more narrow the roads become.  We arrived at our host’s place for a late breakfast/lunch (Vietnamese brunch).  We went to the back, where a chicken had already been picked and waiting for me to be dealt with.  I’ve seen this done in movies, as well as in other places I cannot recall, but it was MY time to accomplish this age old task.  I was then instructed in the art of humane chicken slaughter.  The old school way humans have been doing it for thousands of years.

I have never done anything like this in my life.  I’m not the most handy man.  My skills are limited to assembling furniture, hanging pictures and putting up shelves.  I was way out of my element here, but I wanted to try new things while I was out here.

It was insane!! I wanna tell you more, but I’ll save it for when I post the video.

Here are a couple stills from the footage.

After we dined on the bird I slaughtered, we drove back from the country making a few quick stops to take some pictures.  We then headed into the city and made one last stop at Chùa Long Son Pagoda Long Son. It’s also known as the White Buddhist Temple. Built in 1886, the temple is beautiful.  I have never climbed so many stairs in my life!!  The 75 monks that live there, climb them four times a day, every morning at 4AM.  Obviously I am not cut out for that lifestyle. Their discipline is impressive.

Here are a few pictures taken with my iPhone 4S.

As promised, here is the teaser from some of the upcoming episodes to our tour in Asia.  It was filmed and edited by DJ P Plus. You haven’t seen nothing yet…
